The NewNeedle website aims to support users of refurbished sewing machines in Africa. Materials on this site are free to use, download, share or print.
Background The UK based charity Tools for Self Reliance (TFSR) recovers and refurbishes a large array of tools and machines, including sewing machines, all donated within the UK. These tools and machines are refurbished and repacked into trade kits; blacksmithing, metalwork, carpentry, plumbing, seamstress and so on. The kits are then requested by African partners who organise and supply appropriate local trade-specific training.
Volunteer work at TFSR provides the rationale and helps to identify the content for the NewNeedle website.
